Today I biked to IKEA for various and sundry things missing in this otherwise well-supplied apt.  First I biked an hour  (about the same length of time it takes to drive to the Seattle IKEA) with a "mod-wind" which is a common phrase meaning the wind against you  (and it always seems to be coming at you).  I filled my 3 bags to the brim, taking time to measure if the wastebasket I bought was going to fit into my backpack, and biked them home again. I guess I am impressed with myself, however,  I was one of many in the stream of bikes.  Women in high heels and skirts, babies in a seat in front of mom and a kid on the back, baskets full of groceries/ sports equipment/ beer.  It was a fun day.  I stopped in the main square of Copenhagen to see the bakery judging contest.  All the bakeries in DK are in a competition to see who makes the best rye bread, cakes, chocolate etc.  They were handing out tastes under the tent while the judges tasted all these fantastic cakes which were displayed in all their glory.  Our local bakery was represented as well.  Soon I will post photos from that wonderful place.
