This weekend was a biking weekend.  It was a bit of Indian summer, warm sun and cool air.  There is a huge nature preserve very close to us and we can bike through fields and woods for many miles.  We went along the coast to a little town called Dragør, an old town settled by Dutch immigrants.  We sat in the sun on the harbor wall eating our cheese sandwiches watching all the old Danish folk out in the sun on a Sat. afternoon.  Today we biked for 3 hours out to "Deer Garden" , the King's old hunting grounds.  Everyone was out.  Biking families, grandparents pushing their grandkids in the comfy prams, people walking through the woods.  We ate our cheese sandwiches and drank our Carlsbergs in the sun, listening to the rutting elk bugling their autumn message.  Afterwards we went to Tivoli for the last day of the season.  Walking around noticing the changes and the old things again.  They still have the booth where you pay for a chance to hit dishes as they move up and down.  We didn't win anything at the roller ball booth or the candy roulette but had a very pleasant time walking around and sitting by the lake watching people and having a beer.  Again the old folks were out, their faces turned to the sun, taking in the last of summer.  I hope I can post some photos of our outings.  We love to bike in this country.

  1. Rutting elk, old folks and cheese sandwiches - what could be better! What is it with the Scandinavians and their sandwiches? I'm half way through Mankell's White Lioness and Wallander likes to talk about sandwiches too! Wish I was there.
